Michael “Mike” Wilcox, a loving husband, and father, and pawpaw peacefully went to be with his Lord on the morning of October 14th, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on January 17, 1952, in Conway, Arkansas. During his childhood years he lived in Deming, New Mexico, Conway and Greenbrier Arkansas, where he raised his family and owned the Inside Out Hardware and Feed Store. Mike lived his life to the fullest and never met a stranger. With his caring, bold, and big personality he accumulated friends everywhere he went. If you were ever blessed by being around him, you knew he cared deeply for people and for what was happening in their lives. He loved to talk whether it was just joking around or having deep thoughtful conversations with his new and old friends.
The story of how Mike and his wife, Suzanne, met is straight out of a fairytale. He was proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Rome, Italy where he met Suzanne. After dating for several months Mike proposed and the rest is history. Together they settled in Greenbrier, Arkansas and raised two children. He is preceded in death by his father Bobby Vaden Wilcox, mother, Joyce Fiddler Wilcox, and brother Herbie Wilcox. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Suzanne Ellis Wilcox: daughter Cristina Wilcox McMahon (Shaun), of Hot Springs: son Alex Wilcox of Conway, Arkansas: granddaughter Kylan Wilcox and grandson Gavin Wilcox, both of Fayetteville, Arkansas: brother Randy Wilcox, four nephews and many great nephews and a great niece.
He Cherished his family dearly. Upon graduating from high school Mike attended Hendrix College before enlisting in the U. S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country for six years. In 1986, The Inside Out True Value Hardware and Feed Store was opened to the small town of Greenbrier. Each customer was special to him. He wanted to make an impact on every soul he could, whether it was opening the store on a late Sunday afternoon for someone with an emergency or giving an item from the store to a family he knew could not afford the expense or just giving candy to his customers children. He will be deeply missed and continued to be loved and cherished by many.
The family gives a special thanks to Dr. B. Blake Norris Cardiologist at Baptist Health for the many years of exceptional care: Dr. Sue Tsuda along with the UAMS MICU team.
A graveside burial will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Springhill Baptist Cemetary at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating.
Pallbearers are Alex Wilcox, Randy Wilcox, Gavin Wilcox, Matt Wilcox, Stewart Wilcox and Spencer Wilcox.
