Mrs. Ara V. McCowan Waldrop, age 96, of Covington formerly of Alpharetta, Georgia and Bee Branch, Arkansas passed away January 7, 2015. She was born January 13, 1918 in Bee Branch, Arkansas to the late Alison and Ellie Mae Mahan Duncan. Mrs. Waldrop was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great- Great Grandmother.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Hickory Grove General Baptist Church in Bee Branch. Mrs. Waldrop moved to Alpharetta in 1965 and worked for Alpha Drugs.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Henry Clifton "Buddy" McCowan, her second husband George W. Waldrop, her daughter Elizabeth Ann McCowan, her grandson Kevin Kissire and her great grandson Kody Neal Dunn.
Mrs. Waldrop is survived by her children; Della Hoch (Richard) of Ball Ground, Georgia, Haven McCowan ( Betty) of Covington, Georgia and Barbara Kissire (Wayne) of Sparta, Georgia her grandchildren Tonya Hoch, Sherri Bartello (Danny), Dana Dunn, Shana Hogan (Randy), Haven "Buddy" McCowan, Jr.(Kristie) and Natosha Culpepper (Brian) her great grandchildren; Kasey Burt (Paul), Jacob Kissire, Kellie Hogan, Kristin Dunn, Faith Bartello, Haven McCowan, III, Madiosn Kissire, Joseph Kissire, Brison Culpepper, Anslie Hogan, Camdyn Culpper, Daniel Bartello and Makenna Culpper and one great great grandchild Owen Burt. She is also survived by her brother Junior Duncan and her sister Ima Faye Holliman along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Waldrop will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2015 in the chapel of Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery at Formosa. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
