Arlene Hazel Mallett, 79, of Greenbrier, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2025. She was born in Greenbrier, Arkansas on November 29, 1945, to John Arel Tippit and Vernie Hazel (Reynolds) Tippitt.

Arlene gave her life to Christ in 1959, was baptized in the Peavine Creek and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church in the Republican community of Greenbrier, Arkansas. She later got married in the late 1960s, moved with her husband Jim and shortly after began to start a family, and was a member of many churches in various locations. In the year 1996, she returned as a faithful long-term member of Friendship Baptist church until her passing.

Arlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved and cherished her family dearly, but above all God was number 1 in her life. She loved watermelon, fried catfish dinners, homemade corn bread, pinto beans and greens. She absolutely relished chipped Ice from Sonic! Arlene loved to read her bible late into the night and was known to fall asleep with a magnifying glass in one hand and a bible in the other. She left an endless impression on so many with her kind heart and infectious smile. She would always put others before herself. Arlene’s level of devotion to Soul winning for Christ was Untouchable.

She was often seen in Greenbrier, asking people in local stores and businesses, if they knew Jesus Christ as their personal savior, and if they had a church home. Throughout her life, wherever she was a member, Arlene invited countless individuals to come visit her church and help it grow. She was a faithful devoted church member of Friendship Baptist church and there were many times she did not feel like going, but you never heard her complain and she went anyway because she didn’t want to miss an opportunity to serve the lord. And if she ever missed, you knew she was really sick. Arlene always faithfully gave her tithe no matter how low or high it was. She would always simply say, “You can’t outgive God”.

Arlene developed a passion for singing at an early age and at 6 years old she frequently would sing on the Conway, Arkansas radio station, KCON, with the Harrington family band. She was especially known for singing the song “Mockingbird Hill” by Patti Page. As she grew older, she loved to sing and glorify the lord by performing Sunday specials at many different churches, she was even known at an early age to help in song directing or wherever needed in the church, as well as spending many Saturdays, helping some young women in Greenbrier practice songs for upcoming church programs. In her later years, Arlene would often take either a tape player or karaoke machine to the Greenbrier Nursing home and sing Gospel songs for the elderly there, because she wanted them to know and feel God’s love.

Anyone who knew Arlene, had no doubt that she was an advocate for Christ. In her home, there are endless notes on scriptures of the bible from her own personal studies and bible verses wrote in multiple notebooks, as well as numerous bibles and Christian books.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vernie Tippit; her husband, Jimmy Earl Mallett and brother, Robert “R.L.” Tippit and John Tippit.

Arlene is survived by her sons, Jimmy Joe (Irene) Mallett of Grand Prairie, Texas and Jeremy (Christina) Mallett of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Gracie Mallett, Elijah Mallett, Abbigail Mallett, and Carly Mallett; sister, Mabel Jean Crocker; and many extended family and friends.
