Barbara Lynn Shock, 78, of Greenbrier, entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 19, 2023.
Barbara was born on January 8, 1945, to George Harry and Cora Lee (Kirby) Thrash. One of four children, Barbara grew up in a farming family. At a young age, her family moved to Deming, New Mexico to farm. While in Deming, she developed meaningful relationships with friends she would speak fondly of for the rest of her life. Her family moved back to Arkansas for her 11th grade year, and she would graduate from Greenbrier High School in 1963.
During high school, she met and fell in love with a boy from Enola. She and Ronnie married in August 1963. Together, they raised a daughter, Jackie, and two sons, Steve and Danny.
Barbara was a homemaker, allowing her time to keep the family home running, while Ronnie worked for the Little Rock Fire Department. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She loved watching her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, participate in all the sports and extracurriculars they took part in.
For many years, Barbara kept her grandkids during the day while their parents worked. She had a special bond with each of them that almost made going back home to sleep each night unbearable for all of them. Over the years, there would be many pallets made, frequent sleepovers had, and more back tickles and hugs to even count. She was the ultimate grandma who enjoyed the company of her family to the fullest, even up until her very last days.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Cora Lee Thrash, her father, George Harry Thrash, her sister, Joyce Reynolds, her two brothers, Carroll Thrash and Grady Thrash, and her son, Steven Allen Shock. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ronnie Shock, her daughter, Jackie Black (Paul), her son, Danny Shock (Robin), five grandchildren, a bonus grandchild, 10 great-grandchildren, and two bonus great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be June 21, 2023 at 10 AM. Both will take place at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Guy.
