Brooks’s dedication to service was evident from a young age. At 15, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his leadership, discipline, and commitment to helping others. A graduate of Conway High School in 1982, Brooks went on to pursue his education at the University of Central Arkansas, where he joined the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and was listed in Who’s Who of American Colleges. His academic journey continued in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he completed his Master’s degree before moving to Colorado to work on his PhD. Throughout his college years, Brooks was an accomplished musician, playing in several bands including The Dangling Participles and The Kind, before joining Happenstance, the band he toured and performed with for 11 years. He later joined The Broken Turtle Band in El Dorado, Arkansas, where he continued to make music that inspired and connected with people.

In this role, he was a respected leader who worked tirelessly to support the college’s mission and guide its students toward academic and personal growth. His leadership at the college was marked by a deep commitment to education and the well-being of the students he served.

In 2014, after graduating from the Renewal Ranch program, Brooks found his true calling as the Worship Director at the Ranch. There, he devoted his life to serving the Lord, guiding and mentoring the men he worked with. His faith and passion for ministry had a profound impact on everyone he encountered, and he will be remembered for the lives he touched and the love he spread through his work.

These small moments were a source of happiness and connection for him, reflecting his ability to find beauty in the world around him.

Brooks will be remembered for his generous heart, his humility, and his enduring faith. His legacy of love, music, leadership, and service to others will continue to inspire all who knew him.
