December 21, 1977 – January 25, 2022

Crystal Lea was born on December 21, 1977, in Paragould, Arkansas, to Barbara and Albert Atkinson. Crystal had Shirley Temple curls and sparkling hazel eyes that were filled with excitement and a personality that could surpass any room. Crystal experienced multiple moves but always spoke fondly of her childhood in Carmi, Illinois where she loved to ride bikes, spend time with her Atkinson cousins and go on adventures with her beloved chihuahua, Cocho.

Crystal was married to her husband, Brian Taylor on October 28, 2006. Crystal picked her wedding date to honor her late Grandmother Arline and Grandfather Letcher Smith’s anniversary. Their life together has spanned fifteen great years.

Crystal Lea Taylor passed on January 25, 2022, in the company of her loving family and into the arms of Jesus. She is preceded in death by her parents: Barbara and Albert Atkinson and loving aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Crystal is survived by her husband Brian and her sister Patti, nephews: Will and Jesse, nieces: Meleah and Phoebe, great-nieces: Lydia, Danielle and Alyssa and great-nephew, James Robert and Augustus. She is sorely missed

Crystal was a vivid and an imaginative storyteller by all accounts and anyone that had the pleasure of meeting her could affirm. Regardless how many times you heard one of her stories, you could count on being entranced once again. Her stories were full of creative details and exciting nuances that kept you entertained. Her talent for storytelling went beyond the spoken word as she also loved to write.
Crystal was a dedicated aunt to Will, Meleah, Phoebe and Jesse in their childhoods. She took them on car rides and long walks that were filled with fond memories. She was given three great-nieces: Lydia, Danielle and Alyssa whom she loved fiercely.

Crystal had special gift. She dedicated her heart and time to curate and send her famous cards to those she loved. Her sister Patti remembers Crystal telling her that it was her mission to encourage those around her.

Crystal was a woman of devote faith. She attended and was a member of Springhill Baptist. She loved to read the bible and spend time studying. She loved to spend time connecting with her distant family and fellow friends over the years on Facebook. Crystal was an avid animal lover. She and her husband, Brian, owned and operated Happy Dale Dog Kennel. She loved to cook and had an impressive cookbook collection. She loved to craft and would spend hours working on scrapbooking and card making. Crystal enjoyed playing games and cards with her family.

For those of us that had the honor and privilege of knowing her, know that Crystal’s heart was made of pure gold. She was an amazing listener, always willing to let you share life’s trials and blessings with her. Crystal made you feel refreshed and cared for. That was Crystal’s superpower; she made every person she talked to feel loved.

We will carry on Crystal’s legacy of: love of animals, crafting, storytelling and most importantly, encouragement of others. We love you Crystal. We know you are rejoicing in Heaven as we are rejoicing here on Earth. Watch out for us, just like you did while you were here.

Celebration of life will be February 5th, 2022 at 11:00 am at Spring Hill Baptist church.
