Dale F. Smith of Conway went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at the age of 68. Dale is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debra Smith of Conway, two sons, Clay (Rachel) Smith of Conway and Chad (Kari) Smith of Vilonia, granddaughter Kennedy Smith of Greenbrier, three grandsons, Skylar, Jordan, and Spencer Jamieson of Vilonia, his sister Kathy (Virgil) Norris of Missouri, and his step mother Mary Wachter Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Phyllis Smith of Ely Minnesota, and his sister Eleanor Pedersen of Joliet Illinois. Dale was born in 1949 in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Joliet West High School in 1967. Dale married Debra in 1982 and they moved to Arkansas with their sons in 1983. Dale retired from Hendrix College in 1999 as the Assistant Food Service Director, and was the recipient of the James E. Major Service Award. In 2005 Dale received a heart transplant at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and in 2007 he received a kidney transplant at UAMS in Little Rock. He became an advocate for organ donation and was active in the organ recipient support group. Dale was a dedicated husband and father who loved his family dearly. He was an avid lifelong Chicago Cubs fan who finally got to see his Cubs win the World Series in 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on December 17, 2017 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier, AR. Brother Gaylon King will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dale's life. The family would like to thank Dale's transplant team at Baptist for their commitment and dedication to his care since 2005.
