Derrell Eugene Cox Sr, age 87, born October 2, 1934 of Greenbrier, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jennie and Gene Cox of Stuttgart; brother, Donal Carroll Cox; stepmother, Doris Cox; niece, Jennifer Cox; in-laws Lottie and Fred Levesque.
Survivors are his wife of 58 1/2 years, Carolyn Cox; children, Derrell Jr and wife Gina, their children, Bradley and Lindsey; daughter, Melody Cox and her children, Valerie, Kassidy, and AJay Thompson; daughter, Caroline Garrison and husband Ed, their children, Samantha, Macy, Cydney, Matt, Ryder, and Ava; sister, Pat Summitt and her husband Butch of Ohio; brother, John Cox and wife Diane; brother, Bob Cox and wife Pamela; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cox served 3 years in the US Army 101st Air Bourne. He received his Master’s Degree in Business Admin at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. He was an insurance broker over the State of Arkansas for over 25 years.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s/Dementia research.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home.
Graveside will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at McNew Cemetery in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
