Edward F. “Sug” McMillen, 96, of Wooster, AR went home to be with the Lord peacefully, after a life well lived on June 18, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1929, to the late Mason and Edna McMillen in Bono, AR.

For nearly a century, Sug was a steadfast presence in our community- a man whose character, kindness, and work ethic helped shape a town he loved with all his heart. To many he was a neighbor, friend, a mentor, and hometown hero. In his younger years he loved quail and deer hunting; he enjoyed gardening and farming and shared that with many most of his life. He was a good basketball and baseball player; and later raised Blackcreek Beagles. Sug was on the school board for 25 years and truly bled Greenbrier blue. He served as mayor of Wooster for two terms; during that time, he and Melton Cotton went to Washington DC to secure funding for a dependable water source from Greers Ferry Lake for Greenbrier, Wooster; and now all surrounding areas benefit from this accomplishment. These guys testified in front of a congregational committee; and after Sug spoke one of the congressmen came up to him and said, “that’s exactly what we needed to hear- we are going to get you some help”. He served as an elder for over 50 years in his church. But with all of this, he didn’t spend much if any time away from Mrs. JoAnn; they have been together for over 80 years and truly are a picture of love and respect for their family and community.

Sug dedicated his life to serving others. He left an enduring mark on the lives around him. He believed in lending a helping hand, keeping his word, and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Sug now joins his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Dickey and Patsy; brothers, Doyle, Jack, and Sid; and sisters, Katie, Geraldine, Mildred, and France.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; sons, Donald (Martha) and Doug (Lameta); grandchildren, Bart, Jo Ellen (Jeff), Cash (Kinsey), Julia Ann (Clint), BJ, Emilee (Chris), and Hannah (Nick); 15 great grandchildren, beagle buddies, and a host of friends turned family.

There will be a funeral service in his honor on Tuesday, June 23rd at 11:00 am at the Greenbrier Panther Pavillion; and a visitation will be held on Monday, June 22nd from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilcox Family Funeral Home.

A special thanks to Gentiva and nurse, Lindsey Stephens and BJ, for all their hard work over the last several months.

We take comfort in knowing that his race is run, his work is complete, and his memory will continue to inspire those that knew and loved him.
