Esker Thomas Via, 33, of Cabot, AR, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born, September 22, 1990, in Conway, AR, to John and Louise Via.
Esker liked to shoot guns, ride motorcycles, play pool, and spend time with family. As a child, Esker loved playing in the creek, climbing trees, baseball, driving trucks, and living the country life. Esker had an adventurous and spit-fire personality, which made him perfect for his future career as an Infantryman. Esker was an 11B Infantryman, with a sniper qualification and served three tours in Afghanistan with his career culminating as a drill sergeant for the incoming Infantrymen at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was described by his friends as a tough guy, full of knowledge, and ready to help his men become the best they could be, and he always had their backs. Esker met his wife, Valerie, while they were serving in the military at Fort Benning, and they got married in Columbus, Georgia on April 1, 2019. After leaving the service, Esker and Valerie returned to Arkansas to live that country lifestyle, which he so loved. The one thing that Esker loved more than anything in this world was his two sons. He was a member of Kaley Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Esker is survived by his wife, Valerie; his sons, Zander Thomas and Brantley Thomas; his parents, John and Louise; sister, Brandy (Patrick); nieces, Gracie, and Sophie; nephew, Evan; his beloved Mamaw, Linda; and his best fur pal, Squeaky.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, September 24th at 11:00 am, with a one-hour visitation prior at 10:00 am. at Wilcox Family Funeral Home.
