We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Evelyn Marie Carlock-DeViney.
Evelyn was born on December 23, 1941 at home in Fillmore, Illinois to Leon and Ruth Carlock.
After growing up in Illinois, Evelyn moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, where in 1964 she met Roy Junior DeViney and they married on June 6th, 1965.
Along with marrying Roy Junior, Evelyn took on the care and responsibility of Roy Junior’s four young children (Patsy – 6, Bonnie -4, Michael Troy -3 and Rosemary -2). Roy Junior had sole custody of the children and Evelyn helped raise them as if they were her natural children. Later in life Roy Junior in life Roy Junior and Evelyn adopted two of their grand children (Beau and Vicky) and she helped raise Vicky’s kids too, Cheyenne and Dakota they lived in the house also.
From the four children came 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and his parents, one brother (Floyd Lee Carlock), three brothers-in-law’s (Daryl Malloy, Bobby DeViney and Tobbie Phillips), two sisters-in-law (Patty Carlock and Juanita Whitaker), child (Beau DeViney), grandchildren (Montana DeViney) and one great-grandchild (Jaxon DeViney).
After an illness, Evelyn was surrounded by her daughters by her daughters as she lay in a hospital during the last few hours of her life on July 11th. Sensing that Evelyn needed to talk to her son, a call was placed to him and the phone was placed to Evelyn’s ear. After hearing his voice, Evelyn closed her eyes and took her last breath as she went to be with her Lord and her heavenly family.
In conclusion, we say goodbye to the most wonderful, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, and granny that any family could hope to have.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Funeral will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home at 10:am with burial following to Holland Cemetery in Damascus, Arkansas.
