Gary Ray Byrd, 74, of Greenbrier, passed away, surrounded by his family, on June 30,2023 in Little Rock, AR.
Gary was born December 7, 1948, in Portageville, MO to Bonnie Katherine Jernigan and Louis Gilbert "Jack" Byrd. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Emery and Sally Byrd. At the age of 18, Gary began his service in the United States Navy, serving as a Machinist Mate on the USS Biddle (DLG-34) during Vietnam.
Gary loved traveling, piddling around and spending time with his family. He loved being outside, fishing, hunting and sports, especially anything his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Gary is preceded in death by his soulmate and wife, Barbara Byrd, and his parents.
Gary is survived by his wife, Beverly Byrd and brother, Brooks Byrd. He is also survived by his three children, Bonnie Byrd O'Dell, husband, Mike O'Dell, Paige Byrd Stanley, husband, Gene Stanley, GR Byrd, wife, Autumn Byrd.
Grandchildren, Kyle Warren, Ashton Martin-Shigeyasu, Nicole Jayroe, James Jayroe, Alexsis Byrd, and Kayla Byrd. Great grandchildren, Colton Warren, Macie Warren, Luke Warren, Kason Jayroe and Caroline Martin-Shigeyasu.
A service will be held at Wilcox Family Funeral Home in Greenbrier, AR on Friday, July 14th at 2:00.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to any of the foundations he supported, The American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, St. Jude or any local VA.
