James Carl Lewis McClain was born October 8,1941 in Hannibal, Missouri to Robert T. and Dora Allie McClain. His family relocated to Conway, Arkansas when he was young, and he attended Conway Public Schools graduating in 1959. James (Jimmy) was a Vietnam Era Veteran serving in the United States Navy. After his time in the military, he returned to Conway and began a long career with Conway Corporation, retiring in 2004.
Jimmy married Loeatta Ward in 1965 and remained married until her death in 1978. He found love again when he reunited with his high school sweetheart Patricia (Pat) Walker. They married in 1979 and were married for forty-years, until her passing in 2019.
Jimmy was pre-deceased by his parents and his siblings: Brothers: Robert (Bobby), Paul, Leslie and Benjamin (Benny) McClain and sisters Wilma Thompson and Hazel DeClue. His daughter Alana Faye Scroggins preceded in death also.
James is survived by his brother-in-Law Jim Walker (Vickie) and his children: Joe Davidson (Judy), Marsha Jenkins, Renee Smith (Richard), Greg Chastain (Lesa), Laura Walker (Anthony), Yvonne Sturdivant (Jeff) and Yvette Mahan (Rusty), eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of treasured cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He has been a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for over fifty years. It has been one of the joys of his life to serve the Lord and fellowship with the members there. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge 327 of Wooster.
