Jimmy Dale Covington

Jimmy Dale Covington, 90, of Greenbrier, Arkansas left this earthly home on August 27, 2024. He was born on May 8, 1934, the eighth of twelve children, in Beebe, Arkansas to Jessie Robert and Altha Loraine (Bill) McKay Covington. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Buddy, Robert, Kenneth, Herschell, Billy, and Donnie; sisters, Mildred, Dorothy, and Ermarie; and the mother of his children and friend, Christine Hairston.
He attended school until the 8th grade and then began working on the family farm. In 1974, he received his GED. He worked as a mechanic, truck driver, and farm manager for Dr. Phipps. He retired from Carrier at the age of 63, where he worked until 1996.
Jimmy loved farming, raising cattle, and putting up hay. There is no place he would rather be than in the cab of his tractor or on the front porch swinging. He loved spending time with his large family and telling stories about them growing up.
He is survived by sisters, JoAn, Geraldine, and Linda; daughters, Christy Clifton (Jerry) and Debbie Barnett (Allen); grandchildren, Drew Barnett (Jessica), Rusty Barnett (Crystal) and Jena Reekie (Clint); and great-grandchildren, Lakyn, Mia, Max, Benson, Bentley, Briella, Annabelle and Daylynn.
A graveside service celebrating jimmy’s life will be held at Springhill Cemetery on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
