Joan Phyllis Valley, age 81, of Conway, AR passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Resurrection Sunday, April 20, 2025. She was born to Eugene and Phyllis Dow on February 9, 1944 in Westbrook, Maine.
Joan met Stanley Valley at age 17 and married him on September 30, 1961. They shared a wonderful life together for 56 years. They had three children: Annette Thompson (Tony) of Conway, Bruce Valley (Lisa) of Conway and Lisa Shelton (Hans) of Russellville.
Joan stayed home to raise her children until they were teenagers. She led a servant’s life and always put others before herself. She worked in the cafeteria at Conway Regional and in the laundry Department at CHDC before retiring along with her husband working in the Maintenance Department. They lived in Greenbrier from 1978 until 2017 when they moved to Conway. Her beloved husband passed away in January of 2018.
Joan and Stan were members of House of Prayer in Springhill where they met many wonderful lifelong friends.
Joan was a prayer warrior and was faithful to always send cards to all her family and friends on every special occasion. She enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved cat Ella, attending House of Prayer, going out to eat with family and friends and watching movies especially Elvis.
Joan is survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Robert Dow, husband, and son-in-law Hans Shelton.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday at House of Prayer in Springhill with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment at East Shady Grove Cemetery in Greenbrier.
