Joseph Karl Ogle, 70, of Bee Branch, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025. Joe was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas to Barbara and Kenneth Ogle on February 2, 1955. He attended Heber Springs High School, class of 1973, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Gleich, on January 4, 1976.
Joe received his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech. He enlisted into the Army in 1983. He attended basic training and OCS at Fort Benning, Georgia to begin his career as an Infantry officer. LTC Ogle served as an Infantry and mortar platoon leader, Mech headquarters executive officer, company commander, battalion executive officer, NTC observer controller, senior advisor to the Saudi Arabian Army, small group instructor at the Infantry Advanced Course, Infantry Doctrine Division Chief, Battalion Commander, and Brigade Special Police Transition Team Leader in Iraq. Awards and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medals, Army Commendation Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, overseas ribbons, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. He wore the parachutist and air assault wings.
Joe truly loved life. He loved the outdoors- including hunting and fishing. Joe loved his property where he and Patricia built their retirement home. You would often see him riding around on his tractor, mower or Kubota with his sidekick, Bandit. After retirement, he spent years landscaping, manicuring, and gardening. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining. He loved nothing more than having the house full of family and friends. His greatest love was his family- his wife, daughters, beloved grandson Nathan, and all of the grand-dogs.
Joe is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Patricia; daughters Briannon Ogle and Josie Ogle (John Paul), bonus daughter Myra Ravalli (Kyle); grandson Nathan Ogle; brothers Jack Ogle, Marvin Ogle (Andrea), sister Patsy Lewellyn; sister in laws Monica Magee, Carleen Arinello (Dennis); brother in laws Edward Gleigh (Myong), David Murphree, and Jim Wilkins.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, JB Johnson; sister in laws Maryjean Murphree, Carol Wilkins, Deb Ogle; brother-in-law Paul Magee.
A memorial service will take place with the visitation at 2:00 pm and service following on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Wilcox Family Funeral Home, 108 North Broadview Street, Greenbrier, Arkansas 72058.
Honorary Pallbearers are Nathan Ogle, John Paul Gordon, Kyle Wilkins, Kyle Ravalli, Jack Ogle and Marvin Ogle.
