Reverend Kenneth Wayne Long, 67 of Atkins, AR on Monday, March 4th left this world and went home to be with the Lord. Brother Long was born in Conway, AR on December 30th, 1951. Brother Long was proceeded in death by his father Kenneth Marvin Long, sister Melody Sue Cox and granddaughter Lexie Nicole Long.
Brother Long is survived by his wife of 33 years, Becky Long of Atkins; his mother, Violet Sue Long of Mayflower; three brothers, Tim (Liz) Long, Terry (Tresia) Long, Ron (Lynn) Long all of Mayflower; and six children, Kelly (John) Muncy of Hattieville, Kris (Shannon) Long of Mayflower, Kenny (Latisha) Long of Higden, Amanda Wilson of Atkins, Britney (Jesse) Thompson of Atkins and Marcus (Stacy) Long of Russellville. He also is survived by 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Brother Long loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them above anything else. He was a devout and faithful servant to God and the United Pentecostal Church of Atkins, where he served as Pastor for the last 18 years. Preaching and ministering to people was something that brought great joy and excitement to his life. Brother Long had many hobbies that included hunting, camping, riding 4-wheelers, bass fishing, gardening and building anything with his hands. Throughout his life he wore many different hats. He was a husband, father, son, brother, Papa and friend. He was also a truck driver, carpenter, business owner and preacher. Anyone who met Brother Long was drawn to him by his happy and loud personality. He loved to laugh, make jokes and make everyone feel important. Brother Long made a huge impact on so many different lives and he will forever be missed.
Visitation with family will be held at the United Pentecostal Church of Atkins on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm.
Services will be held at Atkins First Freewill Baptist Church in Atkins, AR on Friday, March 8th, 2019 at 1:00pm.
