Margaret Ann Wallace, 83, of Center Ridge, AR went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2026. She was born in Center Ridge, AR on March 23, 1943, to the late William (Bud) and Lovell Jones.
Margaret was born and raised in Center Ridge with her 8 siblings; she worked hard from a young age helping her dad and uncle out in the fields cutting and bailing hay. Later, she stayed with a friend, Francis, and got up early in the morning to milk cows, then got off to school and returned in the evenings to help milk again. She graduated from Nemo Vista High School and was a member of Sunny side New Hope Church.
She married Clovis Lee (Hootie) Wallace on February 11, 1961, and together they built a life that they loved. They had their daughter, LeeAnn, first and then her favorite child, Wendell. Margaret worked at Mongomery Ward first and then began her career as the budget director at UCA, where she retired after 30 years. As a mother, she spent most of her time as the taxi driver from ballpark to ballpark, watching Hootie and the kids play and loved carting Wendell to the dirt tracks starting with his go cart in West Memphis, and then later his late model cars. The whole family and dogs loaded up most every weekend to wherever he was racing. Margaret and Hootie hardly ever missed a race. They were in a bowling league in Little Rock until they moved to Greenbrier in the mid-70’s. When LeeAnn became a flight attendant, Margaret rode with her from time to time and absolutely loved the adventures and traveling this opportunity brought her. Margaret sold tickets for the UCA basketball and football games alongside her best friend, Mary Limbaugh, during her time at UCA. After retirement and Hootie passing, she made her way back to Center Ridge, by purchasing a farm and raising cattle alongside her brother, Craig and her son.
She is preceded by her husband, Hootie; her parents; brother, William (Bill) Jones; and two sisters, Jimmie Gales and Amanda Jones.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn (Gary) Ingle; her son, Wendell (LaCreta) Wallace; grandchildren, Warren, Raydean, Courtney, and Makenzie; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; three brothers, Jerry Jones, Terry Jones, and Craig Jones; and two sisters, Romaina Crain and Mona Kissire.
There will be a funeral service on Thursday, May 28th at Sunnyside New Hope Church in Center Ridge, at 11:00 am with a burial immediately following at Grandview Cemetery; and a visitation on Wednesday, May 27th at Wilcox Family Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Special thanks to all of those who helped take care of her over the last few years, Martha Glendenning, Kathy Bryant Carr, Seeds of Love, and Magnolia Landing. They all loved her so well.
