Mark Allen Benight, 64, of Damascus, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2026. He was born in Conway, Arkansas on December 23, 1961, to Thomas William Benight and Fern Marie Jones Benight.
Mark passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of those who knew him best. He will be remembered as a man who lived life with a big heart, a strong faith, and a sense of humor that could brighten any room.
Mark had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, though fishing was always his favorite pastime. Whether he was casting a line or simply enjoying nature, he found peace and happiness in those moments. He was also a devoted fan of the Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his teams.
In 2004, Mark gave his life to Jesus Christ, a decision that shaped the rest of his life. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Damascus until his health failed 8 years ago, where his love for the Lord and others was evident to all who knew him.
Mark had a playful spirit and loved to aggravate those around him, always in good fun. His quick wit and great sense of humor left lasting impressions on everyone he met. Beneath that humor was a man of deep kindness—someone who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need without hesitation.
He had a special love for his dogs, whom he treated like his own children, and they brought him immense joy and companionship.
Mark’s life was a testament to faith, generosity, and laughter. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Benight; mother-in-law, Juanita Bryant; stepmother, Lela Benight; grandparents, Eva and Grady Jones and Asa and Katie Benight and brother-in-law, Bill Dixon.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Denise Bryant Benight; son, William Beinght; brother, Larry Joe (Jeannie) Benight; sister, Kay Dixon; his fur babies, Nixie, Winnie, and Aggie; father-in-law, Jim Bryant; sister-in-law, Pam (Tim) Nacke; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Atiq and his staff at UAMS, Dr. Bart Throneberry and the Hospice Home Care team, especially Ashley and her team.
