Martella Henson

Martella (Marty) Gail Henson, age 81, of Marshall passed from this life on September 16, 2026 at Highland Court Health and Rehab Center. She was born the youngest of eight children in Marshall to Claude and Greeta (Baker) Sanders on February 9, 1945.

Marty had the heart of a true caregiver. Her love of Jesus shone by how she poured into others at every opportunity to make sure each person felt loved. She was above all a dedicated wife, mother, and Nanny to her family. Marty could always be found helping out at church, attending a gospel singing, or visiting loved ones. She will be remembered by the love and care she gave to every person she encountered. Marty is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Madge, Maxine and Bonnie; two brothers, Clifford and Benny; and her beloved husband of 52 years, Alvie.

She is survived by her daughter, Patty Willis; her son Jeff Henson and wife Kim; five step children, Mary Donaldson and husband Roger, Vicki Long and husband Larry, Mike Henson and wife Joan, Mitch Henson, and Rick Henson and wife Kandi; two brothers, Louis Sanders and James Sanders; four grandchildren, five great-grand children, and countless nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who will deeply mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 followed by the funeral service at 10:00 on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Marshall Assembly of God Church on Westwood Drive of Marshall. Rev. Gary Anderson will officiate. A private burial will follow the service at Sanders Cemetery on South Mountain.
