Mary Carolyn Smith Jennings, 83 of Springdale, formerly of Marianna, passed away Saturday December 5, 2020. She was born March 19, 1937 to the late Kirby Smith and Gladys Scott Smith at Oak Forest, Arkansas. Mary retired from the Arkansas Department of Human Services as a Case Worker. She graduated from T. A. Futrall High School in Marianna and obtained an
Associate Degree in Applied Science with Honors from Phillips County College in Helena. She was initiated into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity in 1983.
Mary loved to work in her flower gardens and spending time with her family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed handmaking clothing as well as wonderful trinkets for family and friends. Mary had a deep love for her pets, Cindy and Mitzi.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Martha Manley (Monroe) of Springdale, two sons, Mike Jennings (Mary Ann) of West Memphis and Chris Jennings of
Alexander, two grandsons, Matthew Manley (Gabrielle) of Springdale and
Michael Manley (Amanda) of Conway; three great grandsons, Declan Carter
Manley, Jack Oliver Manley and Milo James Manley and many nieces and
nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Jennings, and her sister Claudine Smith Stiles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Graveside service will be Saturday December 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at
Marianna Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Gary Anderson officiating.
