We are saddened to announce the passing of Matthew Brian Pfrenger, of Greenbrier, Arkansas.
Matt was born September 12th of 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a loving, caring,
hardworking, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, friend, and so much more. He
devoted his life to his country by joining the Marine Corps at the age of 17, after graduating from
Rural Special High School in Fox, Arkansas. This career took him all over the country and
around the world, earning him the rank of Staff Sergeant. Most importantly, it led him to
Conway, Arkansas on a recruiting assignment where he met his wife of 35 years, Michele
“Micki” Blumenkemper-Pfrenger. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps he
went on to have a successful career as a regional manager that took him and his family on
many more adventures around the country.
He was a true example of what it meant to be a warrior. He fought for his country, fought to
provide for his family, and ultimately fought the most difficult battle. In April 2023, he was
diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. He was ready to fight yet again. Although he
ultimately lost his battle on July 10th of 2024, he never lost his warrior spirit. Throughout the
various treatments, setbacks, and hardships that came along with it, he was determined to fight
for the ones he loved.
Matt is preceded in death by his parents Jean and Ed, sister Dolores, brothers Jimmy, and
Aaron. He is survived by his loving wife Micki, his children Brian, James, Austin, Dalton, and
Katherine, as well as 13 grandchildren, brothers Mark, Danny, and Roy, and numerous nieces
and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Wilcox Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Arkansas on Saturday July 20th at
2:00PM with services following at 3:00PM.
