Paul "Pete" Shook Sr.
October 19, 1948 — April 16, 2025
Paul Allen Shook Sr., (Pete) passed away on April 16, 2025. He was born on October 19, 1948, in Starkville, MS, to the late Reece and Dot Shook.
Pete loved to hunt, fish, and woodworking; but his most favorite passed time was aggravating people. He made beautiful bird houses and furniture, had every western series known to man, and his wardrobe only contained Mississippi State apparel, and he could fry up some mean catfish. He proudly served in the United States Army, the Mississippi National Guard, and the Florida National Guard for a total of 16 years. Pete loved his family, friends, enjoying making everyone laugh, but more than anything he loved his wife, Janie. He will be missed dearly by his family, church family, and community.
He was preceded by his parents; sister, Edna Raye Moore; brother, Reece (Butch) Shook Jr.; and son in law, Gary Collison.
Pete is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Janie; his children, Paul (Alina) Shook, Sue (Todd) Leavell, Teresa Collison, Randy (Jackie) Johnson, and Jeff (Lori) Johnson; grandchildren, Abby (Andrew), Garrett, Leslie, Jeff, Josh (Bailee), Jordan, Kace, Lance, Dalen, and Hunter; great grandchildren, Ella, Brooks, Kreed, and Layklee; and sisters, Debbie (Steve) Marsh and Becky Shook.
At Pete’s request there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
