Ratis Walton Yeager, 84, of Greenbrier, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2021. He was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on April 17, 1937 to Loren and Allie Yeager.
Ratis was a United States Air Force veteran where he served a dental technician and x-rayed all the original astronauts; he was a teacher, taught woodworking, and coached the wrestling team in Midwest City, Oklahoma; he worked as the physical plant director for 19 years at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma and Southern Eastern Oklahoma University in Durant, Oklahoma; he owned and operated 17 years at Yeager Transport. Ratis was passionate about woodworking and owned Yeager Specialties where he made pens, lazy susans, tables, and among many other things. He was always on the go and loved to go on vacations, baseball games, football games and anything to do with the family. He touched many hearts, and will be extremely missed.
Ratis is preceded by his parents, Loren and Allie Yeager; brothers, Archie (Maxine) Yeager, and Dean (Sally) Yeager; sisters, Sylvia (Jim) Mitchell, Sue (Jim) Martin, and a baby sister; sons, Paul Wilcox Jr., Scott Freeman; grandchildren, Jared, Jake, and Justin Wilcox; nephew, Gary Mitchell, Mike Noah; brother-in-law, Eddie Noah; niece-in-law, Vicki Richardson; cousin, Gina Pembrook.
Ratis is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dorothy O. Yeager; children, Dubby (Terrie) Wilcox , Donna (Brad) Beck, Debbie (Pete DaSilva) Freeman, Kevin (Francis) Yeager; grandchildren, Zack (Tara) Wilcox, Alex (Coty) Wilcox, Jayme (Cody) Shewmake, Jordan Wilcox, Brittney (Evan) Davis, Landon Shoemaker, Brandon Beck, and Kaylee Shoemaker; great grandchildren, Camryn Shewmake, Keenan Wilcox, Paisley Wilcox, Aria Wilcox, Gage Shewmake, Parker Wilcox and soon to be Gatlin Shewmake; sister, Margaret Noah; aunt Mary Gray ; nieces and nephews, Marcia Hettinger, Marcine (Roger) Owens, Ann Cook, Linda Powell, Jennie (Kelly) Smith, Bill Yeager, Mike (Lisa) Yeager, Maureen Richardson, Jan (Bill) Davidson, Kay Nicholson, Eric Nicholson, Angie Nicholson, and Shawna Nicholson; and numerous cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Greenbrier Church of Christ.
Funeral will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Greenbrier Church of Christ, Brother Glen Elliott officiating and burial following to Springhill Cemetery.
