Richard Wayne Snuggs, 72, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, traded his earthly home for a Heavenly one on April 6, 2023. He was born in San Gabriel, California on November 6, 1950, to the late Richard and Lucille Snuggs.

Richard may not have been a wealthy man, but he lived an incredibly rich life through the relationships he forged, the love for others he displayed, and the acts of service he performed. The moment he arrived in Greenbrier in 1991, he found a purpose serving others at Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene, where he cultivated many life-long relationships. “Mr. Richard” was a well-known and beloved member of the congregation to all ages, but it was the children who gravitated toward him which gave him the most joy. He quickly fell in love with the larger community and worked to elevate the city by serving on the Greenbrier Planning Commission and the Greenbrier City Council. He loved interacting with the community by umpiring baseball games, mowing lawns, splitting wood, volunteer coaching, being a church chaperone for extracurricular youth events, and building gifts for his loved ones in his personal workshop. Cheering for the Greenbrier Panthers, chanting, “That’s another Greenbrier Panther FIRST DOWN!” was a well-known crowd pleaser.

Richard was the ultimate family man. He was the person who organized yearly trips to the Buffalo, watermelon feasts on July 4, late night fire pit roasts, and Saturday breakfasts. Richard could be found enjoying his kids’ (and later his grandkids’) games, plays, concerts, or activities, and he was always going to sit as close to the front and center as possible. Richard’s greatest joy was to spend time with the love of his life, Debra, going on long drives, out to dinner, and exploring nature. He was a wonderful photographer and had a keen eye for the perfect nature shot.

His family will miss him fiercely, but they take solace knowing that he is rejoicing and holding all of Heaven’s babies now.

Richard is survived by his soulmate and wife of 31 years: Debra; his three children: Caleb Snuggs (Anna), Josh Camden (Laura), and Alicia Francis (Kevin); his twelve grandchildren: Gavin, Karson (Abbey), Peyton (Ty), Taylor, Cameron, Sophie, Grady, Kaden, Paxton, Easton, Avery, and Flynn Richard; his sole great-grandchild: Hadlee; his siblings: Jerry Snuggs (Linda), Kevin Snuggs, and L.A. Snuggs; his mother-in-law: Gail Black; his brother-in-law: Paul Black (Jackie); and a whole host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marvin and Steve Snuggs.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, at Wilcox Family Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

As Richard would tell his loved ones: “Love you, peace out.”
