Rita Kay Vandiver
April 11, 1945 — July 6, 2022
Rita Kay Vandiver of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 11, 1945 to the late Robert E. Ford and Eddie Charlotte Ford. Rita was preceded in death by her late husband, Chester Vandiver.
She leaves behind one brother, Bill Hetterick of Little Rock, her two daughters, Shelly and husband Tim Powell of Greenbrier and her daughter Mindy Darner of Little Rock. Rita also leaves behind two grandsons, Cody Powell of Greenbrier, Carson and wife Morgan Williams of Greenbrier. Two great grandchildren, Austyn Williams and Sloan Williams as well as her best friend, Phyllis Poche of Little Rock, and beloved cousin, Sherry Moore.
Rita will be remembered for the caring heart she had for animals and those in need. The times that she volunteered with Respite Care so that families with disabled children could take a break, as well as the hours she volunteered watching children at The Arkansas Children's Colony will be forever remembered.
There will be a graveside, family service, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 9:30 am, located at Forest Hills Memorial Park 10200 Hwy. 5 North Alexander, AR 72002
Rita loved the Lord and her family. She will be dearly missed.
