Robert (Bob) Leslie Humphrey 2nd, 74, of Guy, Arkansas, passed away October 10, 2023, at home. He was born in Pomona, California, to Robert L and Jean (Torrey) Humphrey on March 13, 1949. He grew up in San Dimas, CA with his younger brother Richard and multiple cousins and friends. He attended Charter Oak High School where he enjoyed playing for the varsity football team.

After graduating high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Captain. He served in Korea among other locations during the Vietnam War era as a Nike Hercules and other SAM missile operator. One of Bob's proudest moments in the Army was when he received distinction for being the only officer during the 1970 Defense Combat Evaulation to achieve a perfect score during testing. He had many fond memories of his service time, especially the time he was able to serve overseas experiencing new places and cultures.

After his service in the Army was completed. Bob married his wife Norma Jo (Patten) in 1976. In 1984, he and Norma followed his parents in moving to Guy, Arkansas, where they have lived ever since. Bob retired from Snap On Tools in Conway, Arkansas, where he worked as a machinist, constructing tire changing machines used in shops and garages across the world. He also served for more than 30 years with the Guy Community Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and later on the department's Board of Operations.

Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer, squirrel, turkey, and hog hunting, as well as sport fishing. He especially enjoyed the friendships he developed through hunting and fishing, especially with long time friends Jim, David, Ben, Seth, and Ethan. A lover of nature and being outdoors, Bob really enjoyed camping and exploring the roads and trails in the National Forest system and undeveloped areas of the state with his sons in their Jeeps. While living in California, he enjoyed scuba diving and fishing in the ocean and also camping and exploring the sand dunes and mountains with his family in their antique Jeep. Bob also enjoyed riding ATVs and motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson Tri Glide trike with Norma Jo. He was a proud member of the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and the 21 Brotherhood Public Service Motorcycle Club, where he developed lifelong friends and brothers, as well as his penchant for the occasional cigar (or 2). It was during this time that he earned his moniker "The General" for his uncanny resemblance to a cartoon insurance salesmen.

Bob was a quiet and reserved man (except when he needed to be loud) and a loving father and husband. He made it a priority to be there for his family and to support them in the best way he knew how. He was proud to be present at Ryan's induction into the United States Army and at both AJ and Christopher's law enforcement graduations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jo; children, Christopher (Stephanie) Humphrey, AJ Humphrey, and Ryan Humphrey; niece Melody Olson; granddaughters Heather Addison and Bailey Brown; great nieces Alexandria (Anthony) Bauswell and Breana Olson; great nephews Braden Olsen and Nathaniel Pate; family friend Charles Pate; great-great niece Arleigh Bauswell; and many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends and family members, to include his loveably goofy German Shepherd Jerry Lee. Bob is proceeded in death by his father Robert, his mother Jean, and his brother Richard.

Honoring Bob's wish, there will not be a funeral service. Instead, the family will host a memorial service and celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Greenbrier First Methodist Church food bank, which serves all residents of Greenbrier and the surrounding area and of which Bob was a long term member. The church may be reached at (501) 679-2452 with any questions.

Robert was a beloved member of his community, and will be greatly missed by not only his family, but by those who knew him best.

Til Valhalla Dad. We"ll see you then.
