Robert Theodore “Bob” Williams, surrounded by his loving family, went to meet his Lord and Savior on October 25, 2023. He was born March 20, 1937 in Needs Creek, Arkansas to the late Ted and Grace Williams. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years, Mae Ellen Williams.
Bob is survived by his children Brian and Kristi Williams and Susan and Bill Jackson. He also leaves nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Morgan, Grant, Whit, and Jack Williams, Katie Pipkin, Clint Boone, Landon Jackson, Jai Stephenson, and Taylor Harrington.
Bob was a long-time member of Springhill Baptist Church. His life’s work ranged from construction to farming, running cattle, store owner, and land trading. Loving a good deal, he once bought and restored the Toad Suck One-Stop convenience store just to have somewhere near his farm on the Arkansas River to grab a sandwich and visit with his friends. He served on numerous boards and committees for state and local organizations including Greenbrier School Board, Farm Credit, Farm Bureau, 4-H of Arkansas and Springhill Baptist Church. Through it all, his loving wife Mae Ellen was there to support him, keep him grounded, and create a home where their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to spend time with their Bob and MiMi.
Bob had a wealth of knowledge from all of his experiences and his unique way of seeing things. He was always there for his friends and family and was honored to share with them the wisdom he had gained from “the tractor seat”. He was always generous and happy to help anyone in need. Bob loved babies, children, the beauty of nature and animals. Tipper, his beloved Rat Terrier, was his cherished and faithful companion and spent her life never leaving his side.
He loved working and creating fulfilling professional roles that brought him joy – a trait that was undoubtedly passed down to his independent children and grandchildren. He loved to be out on the farm spending time with his family or just to know that they were there to enjoy it and think of him as often as they were there.
Bob’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to every person who helped us care for him these past few years. You blessed his life with much joy and happiness, and we will always be thankful for your love and kindness to him.
Funeral services will be held at Springhill Baptist Church on Saturday October 28th at 10:00 am with visitation starting at 9:30 am. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Clint Boone, Landon Jackson, Grant Williams, Whit Williams, and Jack Williams; along with Warren Sanders, Robbie Snowden, Rick McCollum and Stanley Gilmore. Honorary pallbearers include Jim Baker, Larry Marshall, and Jerry Neal Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to the Springhill Baptist Church Food Pantry or the Greenbrier Public Schools Account for Students in Need.
