Robert Lawrence Profile Photo
Robert Lawrence entered this world on January 12, 1933, to Edgar and Thomas (Tommie) Lawrence in Leachville, Arkansas. He left this earth on Friday June 14th at his home in Greenbrier, Arkansas at the age of 91 and gained his heavenly wings. He was formerly of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

On September 21, 1952, Robert married Shirley Sandefer. They enjoyed 60 ½ years together before Shirley passed away in March 2013.

Robert gave his life to the Lord in 1980 and attended the NLR Church of God. Where he was a member of the church board and was very involved in all church activities.

Robert had many jobs in his lifetime, from working at a steel mill to farming. These jobs taught Robert that he was able to do anything he put his mind to. It was always said if he couldn’t fix it, you might as well throw it in the trash. Robert retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission after 25 years as a mechanic and refrigeration. He also owned a heating and air business for 30 years.

He met all kinds of people in his walk here on earth and enjoyed them all. Robert never met a stranger, which made him friends wherever he went. He loved to talk, and he could talk about everything and anything. You could call him at any time, and he would be there to take care of the situation and lend a helping hand. Even after he stopped driving, he would call his friends and check on them, making sure they were okay.

Along with his wife, and parents there to meet him on Friday were a daughter Terryl Sipes, a son John Lawrence, two grandchildren, Jackqulin Lawrence and Steven Lindsey, and a great-granddaughter he never met this side of Heaven. His four sisters Betty, Joyce, Ethel, and Maryann, and four brothers Edward, W.C., Charles Wayne, and Bobby Glen.

He is survived by two daughters, Robin (Paul) Tuck of Malvern Arkansas, Julie Lawrence (Shane Markuson) of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and three sisters, Edna Spencer of Manila, Arkansas, Patsy McGrew of Salem, Oregon and Ruth Harold of Monette, Arkansas.

His grandchildren that he loved and cherished, Cheryl (Jeff) Parks, Jason Staggs, Michael (Niki) Reynolds, Jareth (Tara) Snow, Melana (Tim) Cotton, Bailey, Keegan, and Jordan Lawrence. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren.

Robert loved those grand babies, he made sure there was always ice cream money available for them when they came to visit.

There always seemed to be a twinkle in his eye, you were never sure if it was because he was up to something or just having a good time, which was usually the same thing. Daddy/Papaw/Robert you surely will be missed, you were a special man who touched so many lives, but we will see you again soon. Love you.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
