Ronald Eugene Hieronymus, 91, of Greenbrier, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in La Harpe, Illinois on March 3, 1935, to Samuel Ellington Hieronymus and Mildred Elaine Gillis Hieronymus.
Ron was a graduate of South Gate High School in South Gate, California. After graduation, he attended Compton Junior College before joining the United States Navy, where he served on active duty at Naval Air Station Dallas.
Ron was a member of the Masonic fraternity and served as a Master Counselor of DeMolay. He later transferred his Masonic membership to Green Grove Lodge in Conway, Arkansas, where he continued his involvement in the organization.
Upon leaving the Navy, Ron returned to California, where he became a real estate appraiser and went into business with his father. He also invested in real estate, eventually purchasing The Carefree Mobile Home Retirement Park in Escondido, California. Ron and his wife enjoyed developing and making improvements to the property. After ten years, they decided to sell and begin traveling while they were still young enough to enjoy the adventures that awaited them.
Their travels took them across many parts of the United States. During one of their journeys, they stopped in Arkansas to visit one of Ron's Navy buddies. What began as a visit turned into something much more when they fell in love with the state and decided to make Arkansas their home in 1980.
Throughout their 71 years of marriage, Ron and his wife were involved in seven churches, taking an active role in each congregation they attended. Their faith was an important part of their lives, and Ron served in numerous leadership positions in every church they joined. He was dedicated to his church family and gave his time and talents to serve others. He was also involved with the Ozark Mission Project for many years and helped establish a recycling program in Conway, reflecting his desire to make a positive difference in his community. Ron eventually retired from Conway's last United Methodist Church after 17 years of service.
Retirement did not mean slowing down for Ron. He and his wife continued traveling and purchased and renovated properties for realtors. Ron also took the opportunity to fulfill several items on his bucket list, embracing new experiences and adventures throughout his life. His many interests included sailing, scuba diving, hang gliding, taking lessons to learn new skills, creating stained-glass windows, wood carving, and skiing. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed learning, creating, and experiencing all that life had to offer.
Throughout his life, Ron touched the hearts and lives of countless people, often without even realizing the difference he made. Through his faith, service to others, involvement in the church, and the relationships he built along the way, he made a lasting impact on so many different people. He may never fully know just how many lives he influenced, encouraged, or changed for the better. His kindness, leadership, willingness to serve, and love for others reached far beyond what he could ever have imagined, leaving a legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched.
Above all, Ron loved the Lord, his church, and his family. His life was marked by faith, service, adventure, and a willingness to try new things. Through 71 years of marriage, a life of service, and countless adventures, Ron built a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion. He will be remembered for his many talents, his commitment to helping others, and the lasting difference he made in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
