Ronnie Dale Smith, 69, of Greenbrier, Arkansas passed away on July 13, 2026. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to E.R. Smith and Dora Morris Smith.
Ronnie lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help others. Whether he was farming the land, driving a truck, or operating heavy equipment, Ronnie took pride in every job he did and earned the respect of all who knew him through his strong work ethic and dependable nature.
Known by many as "Horse Fly," Ronnie was a familiar face and a friend to countless people. His nickname became as well known as the man himself—a man who never met a challenge he wasn't willing to tackle. Gifted with the ability to solve just about any problem that came his way, family, friends, and even strangers often sought his advice and expertise. If Ronnie could help, he would.
In the early 2000s, Ronnie participated in the Great American Race, proudly driving a beautifully restored 1946 fire truck all the way to Boston. It was an adventure he thoroughly enjoyed and one that became one of the many memorable chapters of his life.
When the devastating tornado struck Joplin, Missouri, Ronnie didn't hesitate to lend a helping hand. Using his skills, he joined the cleanup efforts, working tirelessly to help a community begin the difficult process of rebuilding. His heart for serving others extended far beyond his own hometown.
Throughout his life, he helped many people in times of need, never expecting recognition. He simply believed in helping others whenever he could, and his kindness left a lasting impact on the lives of many.
He was an incredibly loving grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved.
Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and service. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplished but for the countless lives he touched through his kindness, wisdom, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever remind us that one person's kindness, determination, and generous spirit can make a lasting difference in the lives of so many.
