Shannon Denise Long

Shannon Denise Long was born on February 6, 1970 in Conway, Arkansas to parents, Kenneth and Sharon Green. She left us on April 22, 2019.
As a child, Shannon loved to pilfer, sing, and she loved to boss. As she grew, that love continued. Shannon loved to give. She loved to take pictures. She loved to buy things for friends and family. She loved to speak her mind. She loved to travel. She loved to hear Kris talk about all of the projects he had worked on. She loved all of her babies. She loved to laugh. But most of all, Shannon loved to love.
Her family was her life. And when I say her family that includes you as well. She didn’t care about your status, your skin color, or how much money you had. She didn’t care if anything she did for anyone was ever returned. Her love was unconditional.
Shannon and Kris were married in August of 1994. In July of 1995, they welcomed Jordan into our family, followed by Lauren in June of 2000.
In that same year she opened her daycare. And for the past 19 years she has played a role in raising more than 100 children. Children that were not hers by name or blood, but children she would have fought to the ends of the Earth to protect.
She was an amazing person. She was stronger and more resilient than most people I have ever met. She was never one to complain but always one to encourage. One would be hard pressed to find another person that will be missed more than Shannon.
Shannon is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Green; brother, Brian Green; grandparents, Frank Green, Clara Green, Royce Harrell, and Ann Harrell.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Kris Long; son, Jordan (Chelsea) Long; daughter, Lauren Long; mother, Sharon Green; brother, Lance (Halie) Green; sister, Karon Green; nephews, Sawyer Green and Aaron Rogers; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Mayflower, Arkansas on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
The service will be held at First Baptist Church in Mayflower, Arkansas on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery.
