Sharon Lee (Moodie) Lowe, born with a heart of gold and a mouth like a sailor, has departed this imperfect life for a chance to spend eternity chasing her horses and arguing with her true love, Ralph.
Sharon was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 24, 1942 to Leslie Totten Moodie and Madeline Beatrice Chapman. In contrast to the harsh, cement streets of Detroit, she spent her summers at the family homestead in Perth, Ontario. She loved Canada so much that she gave strict instructions to have her ashes interred at the Scotch Line Cemetery in Perth with the threat of haunting us from the other side.
She was a tough woman that refused to be taken advantage of and wouldn’t hesitate to stick up for the underdog. Her beautiful green eyes were intense and could stare right through you, learning your deepest secrets with just a glance. She “never told a lie” but there was that one time that she swapped mashed potatoes for her sister's green peas just so her parents would allow them to get up from the table. Hopefully, they are all chuckling about that now.
Sharon’s street smarts led her to the big city of Chicago, where she met her husband Ralph Lowe. While working as a hairdresser and a barber, she raised “the smartest babies,” Ralph Lowe Jr. and Jennifer Lowe-Church.
Mom and Dad left Chicago in 1986 and took on a new adventure as owners of The Whispering Deer Resort on beautiful Lake Norfork. Their love story takes a detour at this point because this so-called adventure brought many more situations for our parents to argue with one another. Eventually they divorced, which was surprising because we always thought they would rather be miserable together than happy apart. And since we were the smartest babies, we were RIGHT! Once dad knew that mom was living with Alzheimer’s, he came back to her, lived in sin and took care of her until he could no longer.
In the end, their love story was beautiful. Mom remembered dad for his handsome face and none of their sordid past. She won her battle with this disease on March 26, 2023 and is forever healed.
