Shawn David Upperman, 66, of Greenbrier, Arkansas went to be the Lord on October 9, 2026. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on December 10, 1959, to Ruth Lawson.

David was a devoted husband, loving father, proud American, and hardworking man who lived life on his own terms. He loved the outdoors and was never one to enjoy being cooped up inside. He found purpose and pride in working with his hands, especially welding and building. He was dedicated to his work and took great pride in everything he accomplished, always giving his best to whatever job was before him.

David was a resourceful man who believed in holding on to things that might be useful someday. Whether it was something he could repair, repurpose, or put to good use later, he had a way of finding value in things others might overlook. He enjoyed hunting, and spending time doing the things he loved. He was independent and private by nature, often keeping to himself and preferring to live like a lone wolf. He valued his privacy and didn't feel the need to share his business with the world. But beneath that independent spirit was a man with a generous heart who was always willing to help his friends, often without ever being asked.

David loved his country and proudly served in the United States Army. His dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to stand by those he cared about were qualities that defined the man he was.

Above all, David loved his family. He was especially proud of his only child, his son, whom he welcomed later in life. Being there to watch his son grow and having the opportunity to be his father meant more to him than words could express. It was a blessing he treasured, and he was proud to have been present for those precious years. He will live on through the stories he told and the actions he's done.

In 1984, David married Deanna, the love of his life. Though they were complete opposites in many ways, they fit together in a way that made them each other's world. David was Deanna's rock, her knight in shining armor, and the steady presence she could always count on. He was the light of her life, the one who stood beside her through life's ups and downs, and the man who made her world feel complete. Their love was a bond built over a lifetime, one that went far beyond words and could be understood in the life they shared together.

David was a Christian who loved Jesus. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, loyalty, and devotion to those closest to him.

David's absence will leave an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of his wife and son. He was a man who may not have always expressed his feelings in words, but his love was shown through his dedication, his willingness to help, and the life he built with those he loved. To Deanna, he will forever be her knight in shining armor, her rock, and the light of her life. Though he is no longer by her side, the love they shared will remain with.

He is preceded in death by dad, Bobby Crews; nephew, Trenton Jones.

David is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deanna Upperman; only son, DJ Upperman; siblings, Lloyd (Dana) Crews, and Robert Janessa Crews; nieces, JoAnn Patrick, Jennifer Giles, Justin Crews, Jenna Crews, Megan Crews, Matt Crews, Bethany Crews; and a host of great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
