Thomas Edward Songer

Thomas Edward Songer (Tommy), 85 of Greenbrier, AR passed away on February 17, 2026 after a lengthy illness. Tommy was born in Shreveport, LA on July 29, 1940 to Merten G. and Virginia Songer. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, M.G. Songer Jr. (Sonny); and a grandson, Heath Akins.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Schuler Songer; his children, Mark (Liz), Dirk (Adia), Deborah Akins (Rob) and Erik; 12 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Tommy joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Tommy hired in on The Cotton Belt Railroad in 1962, and retired in 2002 as a locomotive engineer. Tommy loved fishing, he was an avid LSU Tigers fan, and a great storyteller.

Tommy was a loving husband, father and will be missed by all that knew him. We will always carry your memory in our hearts until we meet again.
