Tun Vinson Bowie passed away on Nov. 15, 2015 at Conway Regional Hospital at the age of ninety-four years. He and his identical twin brother, Bun Winston, were two of twelve children born to Effie Agnes Thompson Bowie and William David Bowie. Born in the Bono Community, he grew up in the Enola area.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. He was a farmer, sheet metal worker, and a construction supervisor for George Koch Sons out of Evansville, IN. He was a longtime member of Marcus Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers: Elihue; Bonnie; Marvin; Otis; Paul; Hudson; W. D.; Wilburn (Dink); and Bun; and one sister Ollie Mae Bowie Brajdich; and one son Jim Bowie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Loell Ussery Bowie; one brother, T. J. Bowie of Oak Grove; a son, Alvin (Debbie) Bowie; and three daughters: Buneva (Bob) Clark; Wilda (Keith) Head; Shelia (Ed) Dunlap; twelve grandchildren: Sherry Purdy; Rick Bowie; Robin Fagala; Kelley Lewis; Dusty Linn; Melody Dundee; Kristen Waldrup; Sarah Drury; Vince Dunlap; Elizabeth Dunlap; Stephanie English; and Jennifer Boudreaux. In addition, he had twenty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Marcus Hill Baptist Church, Enola.
Funeral services will be held at Marcus Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, with visitation one hour before the service, with Brother Danny Fagala and Brother David Cook officiating.
