Vickie Lynn Wilcox, 68, of Greenbrier passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 21, 1955, in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Hilda Stewart and Billie C. Stewart.
In November 1974, she married Randy Wilcox of Greenbrier. For many years the couple owned and operated the Flying W food mart in Springhill where Vickie was known as the “Boss Lady” and maker of arguably the best sandwiches in Faulkner County. Prior to the Flying W, she worked for her father as an administrative assistant in his Shelter Insurance agency in Conway. She was a 1973 graduate of Conway High School and a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Conway.
Despite spending her school years as a Wampus Cat, she was a devoted Panther supporter of Greenbrier Public Schools. She was instrumental in the fundraising for the Greenbrier youth baseball fields. She has made countless numbers of sandwiches for the Flying W community and notorious for her famous M&M cookies. Her “hobbies” included clearing fence rows along the family pastureland and burning pine needles. She also enjoyed cooking, jigsaw puzzles and solitaire. But foremost was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sunday family dinner at Mimi and Pops’ was a staple in their weekly routines.
In addition to her husband of almost 50 years, she is survived by three sons, Matt Wilcox (Cassie), Stewart Wilcox (Haley) and Spencer Wilcox (Karly), all of Greenbrier; three sisters, Judy Yielding of Greenbrier, Glenece Troxler (the late Don Troxler) of Conway and Debi Nabholz (Joe), also of Conway; one brother, Carl Valentine of Conway, and six grandchildren, Cooper Wilcox, Cannon Wilcox, Brody Wilcox, Sawyer Wilcox, Lilly Wilcox, and Roan Wilcox, all of Greenbrier and all adored by their Mimi.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday followed by funeral services at noon at Springhill Baptist Church, 25 State Highway 287, Greenbrier. Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox will officiate. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Heath Dycus, Jason Dycus, Stan Yielding, Kyle Troxler, Clayton Nabholz, Chris Valentine and Greg Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be the Flying W “morning crew.” The family expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Joseph Beck II, Dr. Jessica Tackett and Hospice Home Care.
