"I throw the ball ninety-two miles an hour, but they hit it back just as hard." -Joaqun Andjar

The world certainly threw a lot at my father, but he always stepped up to the plate. It was just his nature. I'll never forget his first words to me after his initial surgery. I came to see him in recovery and thought I'd make a joke in the spirit of his own. I asked him if he was ready to play some one-on-one (basketball). His response? "I can still take you, even from this bed." The thing is he was probably right. Though he passed away in his home on the afternoon of June 24, 2017, he always retained both his trademark stubbornness and fighting spirit.
Simply put, that's how he lived his life. He was talented, competitive, dedicated, and hard-working-qualities which defined him for over 50 years. Born in Stuttgart, AR on August 17, 1962, he grew up in Plumerville, AR. While in school at Plumerville in 1978, he played on the school's first and only boy's state championship basketball team-an experience he spoke of often and remembered fondly. He remained an avid hunter and coach throughout his life. He loved Razorback basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs, black coffee, and-above all else-his friends, family, and faith.
He was preceded in death by, among others, all four grandparents and his mother, Bobby Ann Moran. Still here to celebrate his life and honor his memory are his father Wilber Moran Sr.; his sisters Marion Kay VanPelt and Debbie Stephenson; his brother Chris Moran; his wife Karen Moran; three sons: Thomas Moran, David Villalobos, and Chandler Moran; one soon-to-be grand-daughter Cambria Grace Villalobos; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; the families of all those mentioned; and countless friends.
A visitation is scheduled for 6:00-8:00 on the evening of June 27, 2017 at Bishop-Crites Funeral Home in Greenbrier. A celebration of life will follow at Plumerville First Baptist Church at 10:00 on the morning of June 28, 2017. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Plumerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to either Prevent Cancer Foundation or American Cancer Society.
"God has a reason for everything he does, so know He won't give you anything you can't handle. He knows I believe although I may not show it like I should. But I trust Him with all my soul. Love ya."
-Wilber Marion Moran Jr., January 2014
