William Leon Henderson of Greenbrier passed away peacefully Saturday, November 18, 2023 at home with his daughters by his side. Leon was a truck driver for most of his life. His trucking buddies knew him as Winterhawk on the CB. He traveled seeing most of the states in a “big truck” and could always tell you the best way to get somewhere.
Leon’s favorite color was purple and he was an avid John Wayne collector. His hobbies included raising livestock, riding the backroads and spending time with family and friends. But he especially enjoyed the time spent with all the littles who called him Pappy.
He always said, “it’s how you live the dash” and he spent 77 years living his April 29, 1946 – November 18, 2023.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Ervin and Della (Rowlett) Henderson and, Eabern and Mable (Jolly) Hardy; father, Bill E Henderson; and mother, Hettie Mae Cassity.
Survived by his sisters, Jeannie Fisher and Cheryl Nelson; his three favorite daughters, Renee’ (Jeff) Roylston, Nikki Cardin, Denee’ (Bartt) Acre; seven grandchildren, Megan (Brian) Wilson, Lee Cardin, Cody Cardin, TJ (Shane) Newman, Gracey Acre, Emi Acre, Addi Acre; eleven great-grandchildren, Rylie, Avery, Brayden, Allie, Emma, Asher, Madilyn, Jack, Everleigh, Grayson, Archer
Celebration of Life will be Monday, November 27 from 5-8 pm at Wilcox Family Funeral Home with special words from daddy’s long-time friend, Freddie Mark Wilcox at 7:30 pm.
